Taking Pride in Whitewater

9/2/2026

Sometimes improving a community starts with simply taking care of what you already have.

Over the past few months, the City of Whitewater has begun taking a closer look at its own properties and public spaces — not just to maintain them, but to improve them, freshen them up, and take pride in how our community looks.

Four city-owned properties recently received much-needed paint jobs, giving some of our older buildings a fresh, clean appearance. These may seem like small projects, but they are the first steps in a bigger effort to make Whitewater a community that looks cared for, feels welcoming, and reflects the pride of the people who call it home.

And we're not stopping with paint.

Earlier this year, half of the City's regulatory road signs were replaced, and new wayfinding signs were installed throughout town to make getting around Whitewater easier and improve the appearance of our streets. The next step will be adding more ADA-compliant ramps in and around the business district, making our downtown more accessible to everyone.

These projects are part of a simple idea:

Take care of what we have. Improve what we can. Keep moving forward.

Whitewater doesn't need to become something it's not. We just want to make the Whitewater we already love look as good as the community we know it can be.

This is just the beginning.
