WIBL - Baseball

The City of Whitewater was proud to welcome the Wichita Independent Baseball League (WIBL) for its inaugural Opening Day on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Jerry Hill Memorial Ballfield. The Jerry Hill Family was present was able to throw out the first pitch for the evenings final game. This exciting event marks the beginning of a new era for adult baseball in south-central Kansas and places Whitewater at the center of league history.

Opening Day will featured three games throughout the day, highlighted by the hometown Whitewater Rapids taking the field in the evening's premier matchup. Fans will had the opportunity to watch six of the league's ten founding clubs compete as the WIBL officially launches its first season.

For a community the size of Whitewater, hosting an event of this significance is an exciting opportunity. It brings new visitors to town, showcases one of our community's recreational facilities, and highlights Whitewater as a welcoming destination for regional sporting events. Beyond the action on the field, the league is exploring other opportunities and activities to create an enjoyable game days for residents and visitors alike.
